Gail Tsukiyama - Wednesday June 20 at 7pm - Petaluma Regional Library

Join us at 7pm on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Petaluma Regional Library for a talk and reading by award winning author Gail Tsukiyama as part of the library's Summer Reading Author Series.

Gail Tsukiyama has spoken all over the US and abroad at colleges and universities, book festivals and conferences, and corporate luncheons and fundraising events. In September of 2001, she was one of fifty authors chosen by the Library of Congress to participate in the first National Book Festival in Washington D.C. and has been guest speaker at the Hong Kong International Literary Festival, the Sydney Writers’ Festival, and the Toronto and Vancouver International Writers’ Festival. She has been the recipient of the Academy of American Poets Award and the PEN/Oakland Josephine Miles Award for Literary Excellence. She is also the first author to receive the Asia Pacific Leadership Award from the Center of the Pacific Rim and the Ricci Institute.

Tsukiyama has written seven novels. Her books are: Women of the Silk (1991), The Samurai’s Garden (1995), Night of Many dreams (1998), The Language of Threads (1999), Dreaming Water (2002), The Street of a Thousand Blossoms (2007), and A Hundred Flowers (2012).

“This is a very exciting opportunity for the library and for our patrons who are fans of her books and interested in the writing process” says librarian, Emma Wendel. “Ms. Tsukiyama will speak for about an hour with time for questions and answer included.  Readers’ Books will have copies her books available for purchase before and after the presentation, and Ms. Tsukiyama will also be signing books after the talk.”

The event is free and open to all.  The library is located at 100 Fairgrounds Drive in Petaluma.
