Australia’s harvest season is underway, so here is a reading list of some of the Wine Library’s best resources on Australian wine. Come to the library to read the periodicals, or place holds on any of the books below:
Periodicals:
- Australian & New Zealand Grapegrower & Winemaker: excellent periodical that has broader appeal, for example, the January 2019 issue had a feature on smoke taint
- Australian Journal of Grape & Wine Research: produced by the Australian Society of Viticulture & Enology and focuses on vine and wine science
New books:
- Hunter Wine: a look at the history and heritage of Australia’s oldest wine region, the Hunter Valley
- Lonely Planet’s Wine Trails: Australia & New Zealand: plan perfect weekends in Australian wine country
Older reference books:
- Varietal Wines (2015): a guide to 130 varieties grown in Australia and their place in the international wine landscape
- James Halliday's Wine Atlas of Australia: the most recent 2014 edition of this text which was first published in 1991
A Tasting of East Coast Wines

Join us for a lively presentation and tasting, Thursday, January 24th at the Sonoma County Wine Library!
Presentation will cover:
-History of East Coast Wine Industry
-Hybrid/Native American Varietals
-East Coast Wine Industry Today
The tasting features 24 award-winning wines along with a selection of artisan cheeses to complement the wines.
