Whether you celebrate LGBT Pride Month, GLBT Book Month, or myriad other options, June is a great month to celebrate the rainbow of diversity.

The Sonoma County Library strives to represent and reflect the experiences of all people in our county and beyond.  Gaining perspective can lead to a greater sense of empathy and a stronger community. Wherever you are on the spectrum or rainbow, we are here to serve you.  Whether you identify with these groups or not, we would like to challenge you to go to one of our events, pick up a book (or eBook), listen to an eAudiobook, or watch a DVD.  We hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity to celebrate the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning (and more!) lives and experiences that that offer incredible value, strength, and love to our world.

“Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month (LGBT Pride Month) is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan. The Stonewall riots were a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States.” - Library of Congress

June is GLBT Book Month™ Starting in 2015, the American Library Association will mark GLBT Book Month™, a nationwide celebration of the authors and writings that reflect the lives and experiences of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community. - American Library Association
